Dawn at the lake. I’m walking to yoga class. This weekend was a full (and good) one, and Sunday was spent negotiating between what I wanted and what I needed. There was so much I wanted to do, mostly physical activity, a hike, a class at the gym. At the same time, I was deeply tired, and parts of my body were in pain. I am familiar with navigating between what’s healthy and what’s born out of passivity or laziness... but this space of I WANT to do it, but what’s best for my body now? This is a tricky one. This morning’s yoga is also a question mark. I’m here, and my biggest intention is to tune in closely to my body and to when movement is ok for me, and when I need to back off and rest. Discernment and kindness. 🌅

Today I’m excited to talk with ESL teachers and administrators. My habit is to have anxiety about public speaking, but I’m transforming this energy into excitement, in part by thinking of this content as a GIFT that I’m excited to offer.
I’m a teacher and I’ve worked with lots of teachers in my day, and I know that we do this because we want to be of service. Here is a gift that I think we all need to hear over and over again until it sinks in: caring for your body, your heart, your mind is the furthest thing from selfish. Resting and being kind to YOU allows you to bring your best, strongest, and kindest self to your students and to the world.

Today I got to do mindfulness coaching in the forest— experiencing mindful walking, nature meditation, qigong, and more. I feel lucky that my job invites me to spend perfect October mornings like this. 💛
